Beach House’s impressive value wines
Beach House owner and chief winemaker Chris Harrison created a successful brewery, Rooster’s Brewhouse, which paved the way for Beach House Wines. The brewery was subsequently sold, allowing the winery to become the sole focus.Beach House submitted three wines for tasting. Their overall quality is impressive.
The winery has a production capacity of 200 tonnes, allowing Beach House to make wine for several other small producers.
They own a vineyard in the Gimblett Gravels sub-region which produces all of their red varieties including syrah, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, malbec and montepulciano as well as some chardonnay.
“Our site has a little more top-soil than most of the gravels, which we believe gives our wines a distinct volume and richness”, says Chris.
They also buy contract chardonnay and pinot gris from an Ohiti Valley Road vineyard.
“The vineyards lie on an old river bed and act as a ‘heat trap’ ripening all varieties easily every year.”
