Rich and youthful

Top Wineries of Great Britain 2021

Chapel Down Kit’s Coty Blanc de Blancs 2015, Kent, England, GBP £40

From small beginnings, Chapel Down has grown into one of England’s biggest wineries, and, since its acquisition of south-facing chalk-based vineyards in Kent’s North Down, with the talented winemaker, local boy, Josh Donaghay-Spire at the helm, is now one of the country’s top producers.

This is a bright pale-gold colour, with a fine fresh fragrance and a degree of yeast autolysis bringing complexity, fulfilled in a richly full-flavoured, toasty and tangy mousse of bubbles; a wine that’s bright, intense and youthful with a mouthwatering streak of citrusy freshness confirmed by a satisfying dry finish.
