Te Whare Ra’s current releases shine
Te Whare Ra’s 11-hectare organic vineyard is one of Marlborough’s oldest. It’s in good hands with talented, enthusiastic husband and wife owners, Anna and Jason Flowerday. The Te Whare Ra D Riesling 2019 is a concentrated, dry riesling from one of Marlborough’s oldest vineyards. Tangy, mouth-watering wine with lime, oyster-shell and subtle white flower flavours. A serious riesling with the potential to age well. (NZD $29)
Te Whare Ra’s Rosé 2021 is a dry pinot noir rosé, with subtle cherry, strawberry, pear and wildflower flavours. A delicate wine with an ethereal texture. A charming, refreshing rosé with a lingering finish. (NZD $29)
The Te Whare Ra Single Vineyard 5182 Pinot Noir 2016 was last tasted two years ago. It’s a fragrant, floral pinot noir with violet, red rose, cherry and a suggestion of spicy oak. A seductively silken-textured wine with a lingering finish. Power delivered with consummate subtlety. (NZD $75)
Finally, the Te Whare Ra Clayvin Single Vineyard 5096 Pinot Noir 2019 is a concentrated and quite floral pinot noir with violet, dark cherry, mixed spice and dried herb characters. Packed with layers of flavour without allowing any single flavour to dominate. A wine of depth and intensity. It should age well. (NZD $75)
