Wine of the Week NZ

Mills Reef Arthur Edmund Syrah 2013, Hawke’s Bay, NZD $350

First release of a new label that may be the country’s most expensive wine. From two Gimblett Gravels vineyards, the wine has been aged in a mix of French and American oak barrels. It’s an elegant rather than blockbuster red with floral, violet, dark berry, vanilla, nutty oak, peppery and spice flavours. Surprisingly accessible now but should age well in bottle. (Cork)
