Winetopia is a “must-visit” event for all wine lovers. It represents a chance to taste, discuss and buy the wines of 60 wine producers in both Auckland (22-23 June) and Wellington (29-30 June). My cardinal rule when I’m stocking up my cellar is “try before you buy”. My biggest wine buying blunders occurred when I hadn’t tasted the wine before handing my credit card across the counter.

New to this year, Winetopia is offering unique food and wine matching masterclasses, by joining forces with four outstanding New Zealand restaurants.

Winetopia, which is presented by Singapore Airlines, features free educational tastings, masterclasses and the ‘Share a Glass’ talks with fun personalities, such as lead singer of The Black Seeds and bandleader of Fly My Pretties Barnaby Weir in Wellington, and award-winning actress Robyn Malcolm in Auckland.

I will be presenting both tastings and masterclasses in Auckland. You can check out the themes on the Winetopia website. Join my tastings or simply come along and have a chat between my presentations.

New to this year, Winetopia is offering unique food and wine matching masterclasses, by joining forces with four outstanding New Zealand restaurants: Apero Food & Wine, Clooney Restaurant and Cazador in Auckland and Noble Rot Wine Bar in Wellington, bringing a true experience of being ‘wined and dined’.

There will be three sessions in each city.

  • Friday from 5:00pm – 8:30pm.
  • Saturday from 12:00pm – 3:30pm and 4:30pm – 8:00pm.

Admission includes a premium Spiegelau glass for attendees to take home (valued at NZD $20) and limited release Ridiculously Good Value tickets are selling fast.

Check out the website and book early – both events promise to be sell-outs.
