Wine of the Week AU

Jacob’s Creek Double Barrel Shiraz 2016, Barossa Valley, AUD $25

A generous, concentrated, almost hedonistic wine, loaded with flavour and promising to reward cellaring. The colour is deep, dark red/purple; the bouquet savoury, toasty, dry spices and roasted nuts. It’s medium to full-bodied with a little alcohol warmth and lasting tannin grip. (Screwcap)

When I first saw this wine back in Canada I had thought the “double barrel” thing was a bit of a flavouring gimmick. However your recommendation and tasting notes, in particular the dry, savoury, tannic, and medium-bodied elements, will lead me to try a bottle when I get home.
