Wine of the Week NZ

Ata Rangi Pinot Noir 2015, Martinborough, NZD $75

Very seductive pinot noir combining a sensual, silken texture with layers of complex fruit and savoury flavours. The wine has structure but it is deeply buried within a core of sweet fruit. Dark-fleshed plum, violet, cherry, spice and very subtle fresh herbs are among the more obvious flavours in this supremely complex wine. Outstanding! (Screwcap)

I’ve awarded 99 points to eight wines:
    – 1962 Penfolds Bin 60A
    – 2013 Dry River Pinot Noir
    – 2012 Bell Hill Chardonnay
    – 2014 Ata Rangi Pinot Noir
    – 2013 Church Road Tom Cabernet
    – 2014 Trinity Hill Homage
    – 2015 Kusuda Trockenbeerenauslese
    – 2015 Ata Rangi Pinot Noir

It’s still quite an exclusive club

Mmm. Going to be hard sourcing that 1962 Penfolds 🙂

I love your recommendations. It’s mostly not possible for us to buy them, but I keep a list and when ordering outside the cellar door here in Marlborough (or the [shame, shame] supermarket) I always have the list in mind.

I don’t remember a 99 rating here before … is that your first?

    Any 100’s?
