Dog Point library release

My comments about Villa Maria’s recent release of two bottle-aged wines encouraged a response from Dog Point winemaker James Healy, who revealed that they have released their entire range of wines from the 2007 vintage.

The release is only available to members of the Dog Point Library Wine Club. Membership is free and offers various other benefits such as pre-release tickets to the Dog Point + Logan Brown picnic and preferential rates at the winery’s Bell Tower boutique accommodation.

Dog Point specialises in making top Marlborough sauvignon blanc, chardonnay and pinot noir. When I average the scores awarded to their wines for the past ten years Dog Point is clearly Marlborough’s leading quality wine producer. If you want another reason to sign the dotted line – Dog Point has the country’s largest organic vineyard.

The following wines are available in 6-packs through the Dog Point Vineyard Library wine club:

  • 2007 Dog Point Vineyard Chardonnay
  • 2007 Dog Point Vineyard Section 94
  • 2007 Dog Point Vineyard Mixed White (includes 2 bottles each of the 2007 Dog Point Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, Section 94 and Chardonnay)
  • 2007 Dog Point Vineyard Pinot Noir

The offer closed at the end of June, although they hinted that they might be able to find the odd extra six-pack if anyone “put the pressure on”. They plan to make a library release every year.

I’ve joined the club.

How good is that! I do love their chardonnay. I find an interesting flinty/burnt match stick flavour to their whites. must be the way they toast their barrels. Still, I love a good Doggy!
