Subtle pepper & spice

Duke’s Magpie Hill Reserve Shiraz 2014, Porongurup, AUD $35

This wine has an incredibly alluring nose of deep red fruits and dark berries, subtle black pepper and a faint undercurrent of charcuterie. The palate is poised and vibrant, though very youthful, but also rich and concentrated. I adore the intensity and the vibrancy, though it is also composed and contained. A well-made wine with excellent structure that needs time in the cellar to mellow and bloom. (Screwcap)
