Wine of the Week AU
Giant Steps Chardonnay 2016, Yarra Valley, AUD $35
There is such freshness and vitality to this new vintage release chardonnay from Giant Steps, which is a blend of the Sexton, Tarraford and Applejack vineyards. Looking swish with its new label, the wine has beautiful citrus top notes of lemon and grapefruit, with some underlying clotted cream. There is excellent expression the entire length of the palate, plus texture and gentle fruit.
It is still looking a little primary but will bloom as the months’ tick by. Though it is still mighty satisfying to drink right now. (Screwcap)
