Varietal sangiovese

David Hook Central Ranges Sangiovese 2015, Orange, AUD $30

A fabulous example of a lively red, lighter in weight, and designed for early drinking. Pale red in colour with distinctive varietal sangiovese characters. It is deliciously savoury with roasted meat nuances alongside the bright cherry fruit. Low yields from 25-year-old vines have resulted in lovely mid-palate weight and flavour as well as characteristic drying, slightly chalky tannins.

Enjoy in its youth or after a short time in the cellar. Production is small — 220 dozen — so best get in quick. (Screwcap)
