Wine Of The Week

Mahana 2014 Clays & Gravels Riesling, Nelson $30

Concentrated, tangy Riesling with lime, white flowers and chalky mineral flavours. Taut, linear wine with energy and purity. Bone-dry Riesling that’s deliciously drinkable now but could become even more interesting with bottle age. (Screwcap)

… forgot to mention, the lady who took our wine tasting at Mahana really knew her stuff. So important, and the odd winery falls down on that – albeit rare, however.

Yep. Was at Mahana for a wine tasting Saturday afternoon. The Clays & Gravels Riesling came out top for me – totally uneducated palate, simply know what I like with an accent on sweet. Came away with a couple of bottles. Nice venue, also, well worth a visit if in Nelson.
