Join me for a Burgundy masterclass

Mystified by the complexity of Burgundy? Bamboozled by the labels and their complicated appellations? Come and take a trip with me from one end of the Cote d’Or to the other and learn about Burgundy – arguably the most fascinating wine region in the world.

The fascination lies in the multitude of subtle site differences between plots of vineyard and the way these differences influence and modify the taste of the wines grown on them.

We will take a trip up the length of Burgundy’s legendary Côte d’Or and taste red Burgundies from every major village, from south to north, savouring their differences. We’ll start in the Côte Chalonnaise with Mercurey, and move north through Monthélie, Volnay, Pommard, Savigny, Beaune, Corton, Nuits-St-Georges, Vosne-Romanée, Clos Vougeot and climax with Chambolle-Musigny and Gevrey-Chambertin.

We’ll discover the glories of pinot noir grown in its home soil, and learn about the differences in terroir, the soil, aspect, exposure, altitude and meso-climate that give each village’s wines their distinctiveness.

The 12 wines will be mostly premier crus and some grand crus, all from top producers. Light food will be served.

When: Monday 24 August, 6.15 – 8.30pm
Where: The Prince Wine Store, 40 Hansard St, Zetland, Sydney
