Indulge Yourself

Michael Hall Greenock Roussanne, Barossa Valley 2013 $38 Value: good

Here’s an ‘alternative’ white varietal with a real difference. Bright medium-full yellow colour; rich ripe stone-fruit bouquet with nutty, honied highlights. It’s remarkably complex for a youngster. The palate is full, soft and round, with a gentle grip. Oak is there but not obvious. Now to four years. 12.9 per cent alcohol. 93/100 – Huon’s Wine 360

Food: roast free-range Barossa chook

Stockists: The Oak Barrel, Sydney; Armadale Cellars, Melbourne
