Wine Of The Week

Eddystone Point Riesling, Tasmania 2013 $26

Eddystone Point is the new second-label of Bay of Fires, part of the Accolade group which owns Hardy’s and Arras, and the wines are already breathing down the necks of their more established siblings. This is a charming and exotic riesling in a style only Tasmania can deliver in this country. The lifted spicy fragrance contains a hint of passionfruit and it’s deliciously fruity in the mouth, with intensity and richness, the mouth-feel leavened by just a smidgin of sweetness. There’s possibly a trace of botrytis adding to its aromatics. Now to seven years. 12 per cent alcohol. 93/100 – Huon’s Wine 360

Food: ceviche; scallops with ginger and spring onions; prawn dumplings

Stockists: Dan Murphy’s, Sydney and Melbourne
