For The Cellar

Ceretto Bernardina Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC, Piedmont 2011 $39

This is just an entry-level Piedmontese nebbiolo, not a Barolo or Barbaresco, but it’s a very serious wine with firm tannins and considerable depth, and will age well. Maraschino cherry, dry-straw and brick-dust aromas; the firm handshake will have you reaching for some hard, aged cheese. Best 2015 to 2025. 14.5 per cent alcohol. 92/100 (Huon’s Wine 360)

Food: aged Reggiano

Stockists: Five Way Cellars; Cremorne Cellars; Annandale Cellars
