Wine Of The Week

Erin Eyes Riesling, Clare Valley 2013 $22

Steve Wiblin is a long-time player in the wine industry, the latter part of his career spent in Clare, where he was co-founder of the Neagle’s Rock vineyard and winery. He left some time ago and launched his own label, Erin Eyes, which is a nod to his Irish ancestry. The wine is a classic Clare style, with light yellow hue and deliciously inviting lemon-pith and lemon-juice aromas, and an intense but delicate palate flavour finishing with a properly dry balance. The acidity is in perfect harmony and the finish lingers long. A superb riesling to drink now, in 15 years, or any time between. 12 per cent alcohol. 93/100 (Huon’s Wine 360)
