Time To Get Rootstocked!
The second annual Rootstock sustainable and artisan wine and food festival takes place next weekend, February 8-9, at Carriageworks, Sydney.
If you enjoyed last year’s Rootstock, this will be better and bigger. There will be more food, more music, more international guests – oh, and a LOT more space. Countries represented include Georgia and Austria as well as Italy, France and New Zealand. Noted wine writer and author on so-called natural wine, Alice Feiring, will be a guest presenter. Tickets are $50, enabling you to sample wines from 68 wine producers as well as beers. Food is extra.
The days run from 11am to 11pm. Masterclasses promise to be popular, so advance bookings are vital. They start at 11am and cost varies up to $40. I’ll be participating in one titled Truth and Love in Wine. Night Festivals will be on both evenings, where around 20 amazing chefs such as Kylie Kwong and Marty Boetz will cook dishes matched to wines of their choosing. The music, orange bar, sake bar and beers will also flow.
