For The Cellar

Red Claw Shiraz Edition 12-02, Mornington Peninsula & Heathcote 2012 $28-$30

Very deep, dark red-purple hue; the bouquet is dense and serious: blackberry layered with smoky, sooty, char and spice hints. Lots of charm and detail. The palate is full-bodied, soft and round. It’s quite a ballsy red with a solid grip and lots of aging potential. Ripe and generous, it’s a far cry from peppery cool-climate shiraz. Now to 2027. 14 per cent alcohol. 92/100 (Huon’s Wine 360)

Food: barbecued sausages
