Top Aussie White

Riposte by Tim Knappstein The Halberd White Co-Ferment, Adelaide Hills 2012 $26

A barrel-fermented dry white blended from viognier, chardonnay and ‘other grape varieties’. Vanilla, toast and spice aromas combine in an interest-filled bouquet with a subtle oak overtone. There’s a trace of dairy, too. The palate has richness and body but also refinement and textural charms. A real mouthful, satisfying and long. Now to 2017. 12.5 per cent alcohol. 92/100 (Huon’s Wine 360)

Food: roast chicken

Stockist: Vintage Blue
