Wine Of The Week
Bimbadgen Estate Semillon, Hunter Valley 2013 $22
This is a delicate dry white that will appeal to those who enjoy subtle white wines that are refreshing, more-ish and go well with food. It’s very young with a pale colour and a slightly closed bouquet, which needs more time to express itself. The taste is dry, savoury and lip-smacking – as opposed to fruity – and it’s tight and crisp, restrained in volume and weight, yet long-lingering on the finish. Subtle straw, lemon and herb flavours. A classic Hunter semillon. Best now to 2020. 12 per cent alcohol. 92/100 (Huon’s Wine 360)
Food: oysters and all shellfish, delicate fish dishes, salads and vegetarian meals.
