Baldwin takes the role of chief winemaker for Handpicked, which engages regionally based winemakers such as Peter Douglas in Coonawarra (tastings), Rolf Binder in the Barossa (tastings) and Dominique Portet in the Yarra (tastings), as well as sourcing overseas wines such as Italian moscato and bracchetto and Chilean carmenere.
Baldwin has already helped Handpicked owner, Chinese-born William Dong, buy vineyards in the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula and Barossa.
It sources wines from allover the world and its portfolio of 25 wines covers 12 regions in five countries.
I’ve been tasting Handpicked wines for several years and have noted a recent rise in quality and consistency. It promises to be an innovative business with an exciting future.
