Wine of the week

Farr Rising Chardonnay, Geelong 2012 $39

Farr Rising is the label of Nick Farr, son of Gary and Robyn Farr of By Farr winery in Geelong’s Mooroobool Valley. Nick is proving as good a winemaker as his famous dad. The wine is medium-light yellow coloured and bright, with deliciously fresh creamy aromas of cashewnut and white peach, nectarine and lemon-butter. The taste is refined yet sweet of fruit, with creamy, silken texture and impeccable balance. The finish is clean, long and satisfying. An outstanding chardonnay. Enjoy now and until at least 2021. 13 per cent alcohol. 95/100 (Huon’s Wine 360)

Food: vegetable terrine; prosciutto melone; grilled whiting with salad and chips; prawns with beurre Nantais
