Alpha Estate Axia Malagouzia, Amyndeon 2011 $20

Malagouzia is a native white grape of Greece. It’s really different! Its powerful aroma of lime-juice cordial and spices, with a hint of passionfruit, bears a slight resemblance to traminer. Light in the mouth, it has a heady, almost fumey fruit-juice note and is soft and balanced and not-too-dry on the finish. Drink now. 13 per cent alcohol. 88/100 (Huon’s Wine 360)

Food: swordfish with eggplant salad

Stockist: Kemeny’s, Porter’s Miranda, Jim’s Cellars Waitara and Crows Nest
