Former Quay sommelier Daniel Wegener has covered himself with glory in his new gig at Perth’s Print Hall restaurant, which scooped the pool at Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards.

Wegener had accomplished much before leaving Quay to head the wine team at Print Hall, which opened just a year ago. Its wine list won a record tally of awards, including Best New List, Best Restaurant List (Metro), Best Western Australian List, Best Aperitif List and the top gong, Australia’s Wine List of the Year.

As architect of Australia’s best list, Daniel was also awarded the Judy Hirst Award. NSW had its fair share of the spoils: Est won Best NSW List, Love Tilly Devine won Best Wine Bar List, Glass won Best Listing of Australian Wine, Chiswick won Best Small List, Felix won Best Regional List and Black by Ezard won Best Hotel List. Aria won the People’s Choice award.
