Blason d’Aussieres Corbieres, South-West France 2010 $27.80

Corbieres is usually a rustic red blended from south-west France blended from syrah, mourvedre, grenache and carignan. This one, from the Domaines Barons de Rothschild, makers of Chateau Lafite, has a touch of class. The aromas are as=savur and mineral with wafts of ironstone walnut and spices, including pepper and nutmeg. It’s lean and sinewy in the mouth, savoury and edgy, with intense and lingering flavour the ends with firm tannins. Good with hearty meat dishes. Now to 2030. Cork. 14 per cent alcohol. 91/100 (Huon’s Wine 360)
