D’Arenberg The Dead Arm Shiraz, McLaren Vale 2009 $70

This monumental shiraz is dark red-purple coloured and smells of smoky char oak and tar or bitumen. It’s very rich and concentrated, loaded with extract, tannin and power. Very dense and full-bodied: a wine to age for decades. Best 2014 to 2039. 14.5 per cent alcohol. 95/100 (Huon’s Wine 360)
