A well designed tawny

Langhorne Creek winery Bleasdale (tastings) has won the top award at this year’s Wine Industry Design Competition, with its remarkable fortified wine, Fortis et Astutus Rare Liqueur Tawny ($125).

It’s packaged in a bottle resembling a ship’s decanter, bound with rope, to evoke the seafaring history of Bleasdale founder Frank Potts. It won the $5,000 first prize. Eleven awards were presented in both boutique and open classes. Full results: www.boutiquewines.com.au.
