The recent sale of Parker Coonawarra Estate to family-owned Hesketh Wines of Adelaide has taken some of the pressure off the Rathbone Wine Group.

The group is still open to offers regarding the other properties in its portfolio, but has stressed that it remains committed to the wine industry for the long term.

The group also owns Mount Langi Ghiran Vineyards (Grampians region. Tasting notes), Xanadu (Margaret River. Tasting notes) and Yering Station (Yarra Valley. Tasting notes).

The Parker Estate purchase was negotiated by Jonathan Hesketh, son of well-known wine broker Robert Hesketh.

Their Hesketh brand markets wines as diverse as Barossa Valley shiraz, Eden Valley riesling and Austrian gruner veltliner. The price was not disclosed.

It is understood Pete Bissell at Balnaves Wines (tasting notes) will continue to make the Parker wines.
