Building work begins soon on Petaluma’s new winery

Building work is expected to start soon on Petaluma’s new winery in the Adelaide Hills (tasting notes).

The 2000-tonne rated winery, plus full facilities for aging, riddling and disgorging the sparkling wine Croser, will be sited on a 36-hectare farm at Woodside, near Bird In Hand (tasting notes) and not far from Shaw + Smith (tasting notes), The Lane (tasting notes) and Nepenthe (tasting notes).

The completion target is December 2014, which is when Petaluma’s agreement to use the existing Piccadilly Valley winery, which is owned by Brian Croser’s Tapanappa Wines (tasting notes), expires.

Petaluma recently re-submitted its development application to the local council, after revising it to include cellar door sales.
