Australia’s first ‘natural’ wine fair comes to Sydney

Australia’s first ‘natural’ wine fair will be held in Leichhardt on February 17.

Rootstock Sustainable and Artisan Wine and Food Festival is its name, and it follows successful fairs on a similar theme in the UK and other countries. It’s at The Italian Forum Cultural Centre, off Norton Street, Leichhardt, from 10am to 5pm.

At least 30 Australian and overseas winemakers who share philosophies on sustainable viticulture and winemaking will be attend. Gurus such as Radikon and Dario Princic, both from Friuli, will be represented.

Tickets are $40 on the day or $35 pre-purchase at the website or phone 1300 306 776.

Organisers are Sydney sommelier Giorgio Di Maria, of 121 BC, and wine scribe Mike Bennie. There will be six wine and food masterclasses throughout the day and a slap-up dinner, cooked by chefs from Garagistes, Loam, Momofuku and Ester.
