Finding the right niche
Australian winemaker David Fletcher has taken a full-time role as assistant winemaker at leading Piedmontese winery, Ceretto (tasting notes). Fletcher has produced some excellent nebbiolo wines from Pyrenees and Adelaide Hills grapes under his Fletcher label (tasting notes). Senior winemaker Alessandro Ceretto says Fletcher completed two vintages at Ceretto in 2007 and 2009, and had been welcomed into the fold because of his extensive experience and belief in the Ceretto winemaking philosophies.
“Our winemaking is built on tradition and respect for the varieties we have worked with for so long, and he has shown a clear understanding of our continued direction,” says Ceretto. “We look forward to having him with us well into the future and consider him an asset to the business. Surprisingly, we also like his Australian nebbiolo!”
