Wine List of the Year goes to…

Country Victorian restaurant The Royal Mail Hotel, in Dunkeld, has won Australia’s Wine List of the Year Award 2012. Its sommelier, Sebastian Crowther, won the Judy Hirst Award as the creator of that wine list. A new award was made this year for the best listing of Australian wines, and this went to iconic Sydney restaurant Aria. This was created in response to calls from the public and the wine community for recognition of Australian wines in restaurants. Other NSW awards: Bloodwood in Newtown won the award for the best small wine list, and Rockpool Bar & Grill won two awards, for best aperitif and best digestif lists. Balla, at the Star casino complex, won best international hotel wine list and Est won best list of wines by the glass.
