Bellwether: Woolshed to Winery
Sue Bell, of Coonawarra-based Bellwether, has landed a $100,000 federal tourism grant to develop her heritage 1868 shearing shed into a fully operational winery with tourist facilities. “I should have more than a concrete pad and a garden hose by next year!” she joked. All going well, it should be open to the public some time in 2013. Bell and her financial backer will be matching the grant with $175,000. Three years ago, they took over the beautiful old Glenroy Woolshed, built of local stone by illegal Chinese goldfield migrants, which had lain derelict for some years.
