Loony for Bordeaux

Here’s another statistic for Sydney master of wine Andrew Caillard’s forthcoming documentary film on Bordeaux, and the loony wine collector market. A dozen bottles of 1961 Chateau Petrus was sold at Christie’s auctions for US$144,000, a world auction record for a case of Petrus. At 12 grand a bottle, that’s an expensive rinse for the plumbing system if one turns out to be corked.
